Did you know that nine years ago today, on 15th January 2016, Tim Peake made history by becoming the first British astronaut to conduct a spacewalk?
During his 4-hour and 45-minute spacewalk, Tim Peake and his colleague Tim Kopra repaired a power unit on the International Space Station (ISS).
Peake’s spacewalk was part of his 6-month ISS mission, during which he conducted over 30 scientific experiments. His work provided valuable data on the effects of microgravity on the human body.
Selected by the European Space Agency in 2009, Peake’s journey included rigorous training before launching to the ISS in December 2015. His achievements continue to inspire future scientists and explorers.
And yes, you’ve guessed it, pictured here is our very own inspiring Kalyani Verma meeting Tim Peake at last year’s Farnborough International Airshow.
